MOTOLANCIA RAPIDA ZEB®

The “Spirito di Volta” was built in 1992 to a design by Erio Matteri and is the only example of a fast wooden recreational boat with electric motorization in Italy.
An undoubtedly classic line, inspired by the English “slipper launch”, with a typical steamboat hull: vertical bow sides, long and narrow hull and very low profile on the water.

TECHNICAL DATA

Length: 9.50 m
Width: 1.90 m
People capacity: 8
Draft: 25 cm.
Propulsion: 1 fixed pitch propeller

The hull is built with double planking of glued mahogany, with copper nails, on mahogany frames.
The deck is in mahogany and spruce strips, externally finished with 12 coats of polyurethane varnish.
The locker at the bow contains all the on-board electronics: the inverter, which regulates forward and reverse, consumption, speed, and the battery charger, already installed on board.
The second locker houses inside the batteries, of the sealed type, specially made for traction, which contain a special non-polluting gel.
The other batteries are stored at the stern; follows the cable wheelhouse with a car-like steering wheel obtained from an old American motorboat.
The maximum speed reaches about 20 knots, which becomes 6 hours of autonomy at 10 knots.
The beauty of an outing with this motor launch is a combination of cost and seaworthiness, free from wave motion and silent.

Bill Gates during the Ambrosetti Congress held at Villa D’Este was the guest of honor on board the first prototype.
